The Platinum Sideloader is a compact and closed robot automation system with a high capacity for the automatic loading of starting material or semi-finished products in one or two CNC machines. This can be both milling and turning machines. The Sideloader is a solution for both types of CNC machines.
The Platinum Sideloader is standard equipped with a product loading module, but can also be expanded with a pallet drawer system. A standard Platinum Sideloader makes it possible to automate several different series of products together without the intervention of an operator. The BMO Platinum Sideloader can easily be expanded, for example, with integrating a second CNC machine to increase the productivity even more.
By adding the pallet handling module, the robot can place serveral fixtures in the machine. Mutiple product formats can be processed by the CNC machine unmanned. The advantages of the Sideloader automation are best reflected in the combination of pallet and product loading. Many small and different product series can be automated. This makes the Platinum Sideload the leader in High Mix- High Volume.

The standard Platinum Sideloader is equipped with a product loading module and a very flexible modular drawer system. For the business operator wishing to obtain more output from a CNC machine, BMO Automation also offers the option of loading pallets with fasteners in your CNC machine. This option provides greater flexibility and allows several different product formats to be processed in combination on unmanned machinery. Such versatility enables 24/7 production of product series of various sizes.
The pallet loading module also allows products to be fixed manually on pallets and then loaded into the CNC machine by the robot. This option gives you even greater flexibility by automating the handling of highly complex fastening equipment. The robot is equipped with a gripper exchange system. that allows the robot to disconnect its gripper and attach to its pallets
The Platinum Sideloader comes standard with a product loading module and a very flexible modular drawer system.
The operator can fill this drawer system with the material to be processed. The robot autonomously slides these drawers in order to pick up raw materials and load them into the CNC machine. After processing, the robot places the processed products back in the drawer and slides them to the middle position. The operator can then pull out this drawer to the unload position and empty the finished products with which it is filled. These drawers may therefore be loaded and unloaded during operation without interrupting the production process.
The product drawers can be provided with different grids, optimizing the available space for your products. This allows you to store as many products as possible in the Platinum Sideloader for the highest possible number of spindle hours. The variable drawer system also makes it possible to automate products with different heights.

BMO Automation is a total solution provider. In addition to robot automation, we also ensure that your CNC machine is prepared and equipped with a zero-point clamping system which is developed by BMO. This “chuck plate” is equipped with pallet installation control and is tailor-made for the machine table of your CNC machine. The communication between the robot and the CNC machine is provided through a customized interface developed by BMO. In addition, we provide various other options to make the work as easy as possible for the operator.
Simple and User-friendly
The Platinum Sideloader is operated by means of the BMO Intelligent Control System. This software makes it unnecessary to use the robot’s teach pendant. The operator operates the Platinum 50 sideloader by means of a specially developed Multi-touch screen (IP67) mounted on the front of the robot cell and connected to a high-end control system. No extensive robot knowledge is required to operate the Platinum 50 sideloader.
Production of a new job is commenced by entering different parameters, product dimensions, product quantities, gripper selection and machine clamp properties. The very intuitive operating procedure is so simple that a new job can be created within one minute. The software not only offers great advantage when initiating the process but also when monitoring it. Remaining times, cycle times and processed products are calculated and, if you opt for the optional mail module, can also be retrieved remotely.
The manual operation of the machine clamp, robot gripper and access door of the cell can also be controlled via the touch screen. In addition, the speed of the robot can be controlled by the software and various software options can be implemented.
To ensure optimal flexibility, BMO Automation offers a choice of many different gripper options. There is a gripper solution for every product.
BMO has developed the self-adjusting jaws to enable the greatest possible flexibility. Selecting this option means that the parallel or three-point gripper is fitted with automatically adjustable gripper jaws. By means of a simple operation, the operator is able to enter the product’s size into the BMO Intelligent Control, after which the self-adjusitng gripper automatically adjusts to the entered size. As a result, multiple product sizes can be loading in a fully automated manner as part of a single continuous process. Gripper fingers no longer have to be switched manually.
With a parallel gripper, products can be grasped in the range of 0 to 164 mm or 109 to 274 mm without the intervention of the operator.
A three-point gripper can grab round products in a range of 3 to 196 mm or 144 to 310 mm without operator intervention.
More and more CNC machines are delivered with an automatic door or can be equipped with this option afterwards. BMO Automation can provide an automatic door module for new and old CNC machines that do not have this option. This can be either the automation of an existing door or the installation of the automatic door module developed by BMO.
At BMO Automation you can enter at any desired level of automation because all our automation systems can be equipped with upgrades and options afterwards. This way you have the possibility to start on a small scale and upgrade your robot automation at a later stage if desired. Below you will find a small selection of our optional functionalities.

Extra flexibility due to the possibility to use multiple pallet sizes in the robot automation solution. The advantage is that you optimally use the capacity of the robot cell due to this flexibility.
BMO Gripper Pressure Control System
This option gives the operator the possibility to program the gripper’s tensioning force in the software. This allows the operator to set the gripping force of the grab for every individual job.
Pressure cylinder on the gripper
With a pressure cylinder on the gripper, the product is pressed when it is set down and is pressed before it’s picking up, to make sure the operation is always accurate.

The BMO Jobmanager adds extra functionality to your machine. It allows the robot to perform multiple jobs in succession.
Pallet loading station on top product drawer
With a pallet loading station on the top drawer, the operator can easily change pallets, up to a height of 200 mm, without disrupting the production process.
Product revolve station Titanium series
The reversing station offers the operator the possibility to program the robot to reverse the product and to place it back into the machining process. With the reversing station it is possible to mill all sides of the product.

We chose a quadruple zero-clamping system with a medium passage and pallets with machine clamps on top. In order to operate these clamping tools without a robot, it is also possible to manually operate the machine clamp and zero-clamping system with two integration kits. The first results show that expectations have been entirely fulfilled.

One of the reasons why Wolters chose the automation solution from BMO Automation is the simple programming of the robot cell. In particular, in the unmanned machining of very small series rapid creation of the robot program is important. As long as there are no mechanical faults, they can quickly rectify faults or initially support the routers during programming.
A robot that works and has been well considered!
The software system from BMO Automation is really easy to use. Everything is already preprogrammed, the position of the power clamping blocks is known. Actually, you do not really need programming anymore, you only have to enter a number of variables, such as the height of the raw material and product, the height of the jaws in the clamping block and the number. The rest is regulated by the software on its own.

I want to have serial production to fill the night-time hours, but the robot must also be able to handle five or ten parts efficiently without complicated programming. I have been able to achieve this special form of automation in cooperation with BMO Automation.
An investment that pays off!
Employees are now familiar with machine controls and CAM systems, but programming a robot is something completely different. However, BMO has made the operation so easy that anyone with common sense can learn it in ten minutes. This drastically reduces the inhibition threshold when working with a robot. I realize that automation costs money. However, if you can buy a complete machine for the price of a robot cell, the step towards automation will be more difficult. Then you prefer to stay that way. BMO has recognized this and offers a product with a fair price.

We, “Nordson Benelux b.v.” automated one of our 5-axis cnc milling machines with a robot cell from BMO. It was a turn key project, installed in 1,5 weeks.
